We had the opportunity today to tag along with the Oglethorpe Driving Club and be one of the last groups to visit the historic former site of Brumos Racing in Jacksonville, Florida on a tour led by none other than Don Leatherwood. Brumos is a name many motorsports followers know well – a name which is synonymous with Porsche, Hurley Haywood, #59 and, well . . . victory. Started by Peter Gregg in 1971, Brumos the name came from the shortening of Brundage Motors and collectively over six decades amassed quite a pile of trophies and checkered flags in major endurance races. Haywood alone won the 24 Hours of Daytona 5 times, Le Mans 3 times and the 12 Hours of Sebring 2 times. 2013 marked their final race season and you can watch a great short film shot by some of our good friends called How Brumos Endures here.
