What can you say about Car Week in Monterey other than that it is just utterly overwhelming. We arrived as rookies to the experience half way into the week – primarily to focus on the arrival at Pebble Beach of a very special Porsche – the 1949 356/2 SL – and were just immediately blown away by the sheer number of people and amazing cars on the Peninsula. In addition to documenting the SL, we spent several days at Laguna Seca Raceway connecting with friends who were driving, took in the Werks Reunion and also enjoyed the Quail Motorsports Gathering. This was about 10% of what the week afforded, where even the traffic jams offered enjoyment and viewing of some of the best cars in the world. Simply amazing.
All of that said, we were there to document in still images and film the re-debut of the SL that has just completed restoration under the hand of Rod Emory and is owned by Cameron Healy. We are currently working on a feature documentary on it’s history (which is nothing short of incredible), it’s loss (and subsequent re-discovery) to the world and it’s restoration, so you will continue to see a lot more from us on this amazing car. Big thank you’s go out to Rod, Cameron and their families for hosting us to such a wonderful week in Monterey.
